Our Instructor
My name is Sue Lambert, and company owner of Moonlight Warriors. I’ve always had a passion for
teaching and inspiring others,
especially children and I’m so excited to be running my own martial arts club.
I began my martial arts journey about 15 years ago. After initially enrolling my son to learn
karate,
I eventually gave it a go myself and fell in love. I began my journey in traditional karate at a
well-established and respected local martial arts club.
I volunteered during classes and helped with fundraising for the club.
During my time there, I achieved my 2nd Dan in Traditional Karate.
I also trained and graded to various levels in JuJitsu, Kickboxing, and in the use of weapons
such as Kama, Nunchaku, Bo, and Katana.
I have competed in several local and national competition tournaments,
in both Traditional Karate Kata forms and Freestyle forms, in both open hand and weapons
categories.
I achieved a lot while at competition, taking away Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. Alongside my
martial arts accomplishments,
I am a qualified Teaching Assistant, working in primary schools and providing 1-2-1 support for
children with Autism and ADHD.
During my time at my former karate club, I ran Traditional Karate classes, Children’s Freestyle
Karate classes,
and Weapons Training classes as a recognized, paid instructor.
Seeing students' growth and confidence blossom through the discipline and focus of karate has
been incredibly rewarding for me. This experience inspired me to set up my own club,
giving me the freedom to focus on individual students,
run a club that has community at its heart, and organize local events and fundraisers
I'm more passionate about seeing my students grow than making money. Of course, I need to cover
the costs of running the club, but I really want to invest as much as possible back into my dojo
so that the kids have the best experience possible.
Watching them learn and achieve their goals is the most rewarding part of this for me. It's like
being a proud mum to all of them!
So Why Moonlight Warriors?
My aim is to help young children develop a passion for karate and achieve their own
individual
goals and ambitions.
Whether they dream of competing in their first competition, opening their own martial
arts
school one day,
or simply having fun and making new friends,
I am committed to supporting and guiding them every step of the way.
"I believe
every child
deserves a chance to try karate, regardless of background or abilities.
We celebrate all achievements, big or small! But winning trophies isn't what makes our
club
special.
What truly sets us apart is our focus on helping each child feel strong, confident,
happy
individuals.
I believe in creating a welcoming and supportive class where students
can:
Build confidence and self-esteem: Help them overcome challenges
and
believe in their own abilities.
Develop discipline and focus: Karate requires good concentration,
patience,
respect,
listening skills and overcoming physical challenges, which are all essential life
skills
that extend beyond the dojo.
Learn self-defence: Karate provides valuable self-defence skills;
I want to help children feel safe and confident in any situation and to make the
right
choices with our guidance.
Have fun! Karate can be technical, with lots of moves to learn.
It can be challenging at times, but I don't want it to be so boring or feel too
complicated
that they want to quit karate. I believe in 'learn by play,' and as such,
I incorporate some of our core skills into games and fun activities.
I look forward to hearing from you
Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, I welcome everyone to join our growing
community.
I look forward to hearing from you, if you have any questions or are interested in joining my
club,
please register your interest.
I am committed to continuing my own Karate development and will be expanding my classes in
the
future
to other Karate disciplines,
but for now I am very happy to teach children freestyle karate and invite other experienced
martial
artists to run seminars in my club.
